I received an Artists International Development Fund Grant (Arts Council England and the British Council) to research traditional textiles in India. While I was an Artist-in-Residence at the Sanskriti Foundation in Delhi, I visited artisans and textile collections in Delhi and Rajasthan. I loved seeing Phulkari embroideries from Punjab in the collection of the Delhi Craft Museum. The diagonal grids, diamond patterns and brilliant marigolds and reds that characterize these embroideries inspired these paintings on Khadi paper and on panel.
